About the artist
My work is concerned, primarily, with examining aspects of popular culture and our relationship to it. Once described as Graphic Design on canvas, my style is influenced by many things, including Pop Art, comic strips (such as Marvel, DC and Judge Dredd), graffiti and other urban art forms, and Japanese animation giants Manga. The subject matter responds visually to the cultural icons I grew up watching in the 70s and makes specific reference to styles and fashions which continue to shape and inform the content of todays society. The treatment of the compositions provides a contemporary response to a set of conventional criteria.
Guy exhibits work regularly and contributes tee shirt designs for street wear company Addict, and his own label Red Ninja. He is also involved in a collaboration project to develop the world's first 24 hour contemporary art hotel.
