About the artist

Barbara Dorf studied at the Slade School of Art. She has exhibited in a large number of prominent London galleries and mixed shows, and in Paris and Belgrade. She is also a lecturer and an art historian. Her paintings were much admired by E.H Gombrich and Iris Murdoch. Her paintings are in the collections of Giles Brandreth, the Earl and Countess of Strathmore, Lord and Lady Dalmeny and Alec McCowen.

Barbara has painted several major series of works of Russia and China. This Chinese Garden series was painted in the gardens of Suzhou, China, which Barbara fears may be swallowed by the spreading developments of Shanghai.
