About the artist

My artwork is concerned with the fundamentals of oil painting. I explore the relationship of colour and how contrasts of pure pigment react on the canvas to excite the eye. My work directly responds to intense light, landscapes and vegetation encountered on recent trips to North and East Africa.
Emma Hughff has exhibited in London and Bristol. She has actively engaged in art projects within the community, having studied at Bristol UWE and continued painting and printmaking in the Jamaica Street Studios. She now lives in Penzance and is currently exhibiting in galleries in Cornwall.
