About the artist

"Art chose me from an early age, for I had a passion for drawing and painting as a young child, and I've had tunnel vision ever since."
Alan studied art at Willesden Art School and then went to Hornsey Art School where he received a traditional training in painting, drawing and design. He then went to work for two different commercial art studios in London creating illustrations for a broad range of clients from fashion to Pirelli tyres! At twenty four he became a freelance artist, supplying a variety of work for London advertising agencies, magazines and newspapers. He has also illustrated numerous books and done work for television.
Alan Parry now lives and works in Worcestershire on the edge of the glorious Cotswolds, an area known for its characteristically beautiful landscape, buildings and gardens and the source for many of Alan's latest subjects.
His paintings, known for their wonderful colours and a stylistic, contemporary look always rely on strong traditional values that underlie and reflect his early formal art education and years spent as a professional artist. It is his ability to extract and distill the quintessential elements from a subject and place them in distinctive pictorial arrangements that give his paintings their unique charm.
